Default The "Bump" button

Hey I've got a great new idea for a forum feature. I call it The Bump Button! :nervous:

Here's how it would work...

Instead of polluting up your forum with lots and lots of posts that just say 'bump', you could click on the Bump Button located in postbit and it would move your post back up top for you BUT it would NOT leave a message, and it would not increase your post count by one. The button would only be visible after a post was older than 24 hours. After the Bump Button was used it would not appear again for at least another 24 hours. This will prevent any abuse of over using the button. I think in this modern day and age it's time that we had this feature on vB. It would certainly be used a lot and appreciated by every forum member, and it shouldn't be hard to make. If you'd like to see this feature added to vB please post your support below

Whilst I would hate such a feature, it might be a reasonable addition to one of the shop systems where people can purchase bumps to use in limited amounts.

There is a bump thread hack that just updates the last post time of the thread. You would just need to change the if condition from an admin type tool, to if you were the thread starter.

Did a search on 'bump thread' and came up empty handed. The only other thing that I found was another request for a similar feature but it was only for forumhome not postbit, and it worked differently than this request.

it would be better if it was a vBcron, after 24 hours it runs through and bumps up threads (unanswered)
and the ability to choose which forum or subforum would be affected.

That's another great idea... but what happens if someone asks a question and someone else posts something like "I don't know the answer to your question but good luck"...

Now the posts 'appears' to be answered to vbCron and the person is back at square one :ermm: That would be a great feature for say the first 24 hours, to have it automatically bump like that, but the original poster stills needs some control over their question if it's not addressed.

So you would prefer to see threads like THIS where all you see 90% of the time is the word 'bump'? :ermm:

Oh you want this for vb.org? I was saying I wouldn't like this idea on MY forums.

This thread should be in Site Feedback if you want them to implement it.

Yes. As a hack. For our site(s). The link above is what we call an example
