Latest 5 topics and log in from home page

I am trying to add the "latest 5 topics" from the our forums and possibly a log in for the forums from the home page of my website that will automatically redirect them to the forums. Similiar to this website: http://www.teameci.com/version2/main.php

Any help would be great. The more simple you can make it the bettter because I am very stupid when it comes to code modification. thank you.
