I have a profile field that users need to change many times daily.

What I wanted to do was add a small section to my header that would show the logged in user what they have this profile field set as and have a drop down box that would allow them to quickly set this field.

Is this possible?

Im not sure how to let them edit it in the header but $bbuserinfo[fieldX] (change X to field id) should display their fields current data.
