vBulletin designed for techies for techies and not for the avg user? Modify NavBar
Hi,
I've come to this conclusion that many of my users find vb quite difficult to understand. Many of them have said that although the technology is great, the way to carry out tasks is not as easy or straightforward. For instance, one area that I'm keen to develop on my site is to have an easier interface or control panel that allows users to do the basics for example, Inviting Friends, Joining Groups, Link up to their friends or buddies and search for other users. As according to most of my users who are active they find the VB Navbar a mass clutter and its not as straightforward. If you look at other sites for example, hi5, Myspace, eacdemy etc that want to carry out the above activity of inviting users you'll find that the Navabar or toolbar where this activity is carried out is clutter free, colourful and easy to follow, via graphics and not text. Does anyone else find this as well??? What have your users suggested??? My thoughts would be that Nav bar should be re-engineered or have a high level nav bar of graphics and appealing text rather than the one we currently have. I seriously think that when vb was developed little thought was given to user ability to the usage of the site. Don't get me wrong I'd never trade in vb but I think its too complex for some users. Peace in 2006 |
