Keywords
Should use fulltext and allow boolean operators (AND, NOT, OR)
Support for phrases ("search this exact string") would be good
Received/Sent Before/After
Folder

Sort results by

Username

Received/Send Before/After

Usergroup permission

Sure, I can do it myself, but I am kinda loaded with work

fulltext => use mySQL fulltext search, eg. MATCH()

I made a start on this myself for 3.5.0RC2 once. But it was almost imposible to do then with just plugins and maybe a few code edits. It would almost mean writing a complete new private.php. Might have another look now with 3.5.2
