Congratulations. If you were in America, you could vote and smoke. I don't know any Dutch laws, but 18 is valid for a lot of things worldwide. Happy Birthday flup. Look foward to your submissions.

Yep. 18 here means:

Smoking legal
Alcohol legal
Able to get drivers license
Able to get in pubs/clubs/etc.
Able to vote.

So it means a hell of a lot.

17 - You can get your driving licence
18 - You can drink, get into clubs and pubs, and vote
21 - You can take out your 17 year old girlfriend for driving lessons to shut her up

- coffeeshops (I ain't got there though)
- Driver license
- Legal Porn
- Drinking (no promille limit)

16 means:
- License for driving a scooter (50cc -> 45kmph max)
- Drinking alcohol (max 5 promille)
