Default Feedback idea and appreciation for Mr Zeropage

I know we already have a comp for hack of the month, but how about one for coder of the month??

Reason:- I have been watching the thread regarding the re-release of IBproarcade, and although it`s a hack that other coders on here have the ability to do as well as Mr Zeropage, the updates, feedback and constant attention to the people whoare waiting for this hack deserved comending. He is constantly online, answers things almost instantly at times, whilst coding to high hell.

Personally, I think coders like this deserve commending so it shows on every post they do around the board, rather than it only being shown on an individual thread, ie the one that is HOTM. Personally I would like to show my appreciation in this way also.

On that note, I would also like to commend Zeropage for his work on the hack, as I have never seen anyone so commited to creating a hack, free of charge for members to use, with so much heart put into it. I have put this up in this section as I believe it deserves to be seen at the top of the board!!

that would not be fair...

ok, i'm a known bugger here... i know what it is to start competition about answering threads and find solutions for bugs...

but how to rate these ?! you want to spend your entire life reading all the users comments, see if each thread is answered well and professionally by any coder on the place?

a poll about the competence of a coder is not good enough, because someone can be angry against the best of us and try to trash the votes... i know that, some guys have try in the past...

the best way to see if a coder is good is by playing with his code and be happy of the result... this site is not a place for competition among us, it's a place to share...

btw, new guys on the site are always searching for the best coder... THERE IS NONE... i can be great in a part of code and being a complete dump in others... for example, i know the vb 3.0.x code by heart... i'm one to have reworked it the most in private projects... more tham 500 000 codelines redone in the last year...

but i hate the new OO structure of the 3.5 so i can't be of any help actually... so i'm good, but not everywhere... and many guys would tell i'm a crap because i'm not the best guy to talk with... i'm french, bad english (kinda like a chinese cow actually)...

and btw, this discussion was done many times in the past... all the times it was started it was from a newbie (sorry for the term, but you are a new member here...)

anyway... was my 2¢!

You got the wrong idea of what I meant then .... This is no competition, and not a way of saying one coder is better than another, just a way to say exactly what I said above..

EG:- Hey I think nex has been an excellent help lately on one of his hacks and very helpfull ..

Or even another example, I`ve seen loads of threads where people have made a hack for the first/second time, and another coder has jumped in to help with a 'if you strugglin gimme a shout' over and over, or helped by saying I think you could do think with your hack, and I`m willing to help you code it.

This is not an idea for a competition, mearly a way of showing your appreciation for something other than just the hack ..... As you have just said yourself, who wants to spend all there time reading every comment??? I wouldn`t, so the ones who do should be reconised.

Also this doesn`t even necessarily need to be specifically for coders ... I could answer a lot of querys that people have on here with what little knowledge I have, as although it`s a little, it may be a little more than someone else.

On the 'newbie' comment, I agree I am a new member on here, however I am now new to forums, and the new ideas should come from newbies anyways otherwise how do you ever expect to go forward? 9 times out of 10 only a new member can tell you how to improve, as older members will stick to what they know, I`m guilty of this one myself on other forums.

all the coders are great, but i must some that some disappear and say they will provide support and none given...as a php programmer myself i find that a bt..well..."lame" i guess you could say.

i know this maybe an old and boring story, but the reason i don't post alot is because i thank the people who do give support and generously share their code, thats better then any other "forum" software group i know. but then again as a "newbie" on this forum, i persoanlly think that being a newbie on the site has nothing to do with this issue, i am no newbie to software or programming, just cause i don't personally post alot means that i may have other things to take care of, my family, my husband, and i know alot of the coders do here also probably but still spend their time helping when they can.

And so the reason i totally agree is for those people who can infact do this and spend all that time helping us "newbies" out. (no offence to anyone out there, i just have jobs to do and would program for you if i just had the time and the patience to put up with all the questions)

So i am merely saying well done to all the coders

A lot of coders put a lot of support time in for their hacks, often quietly behind the scenes via PM, some for more than one hack. Some of these people never win awards (like HOTM) either. But are they left bitter and twisted by it all ...........

YOU BET THEY ARE

newbie classification: first, definition: " New By " ... means you are new to the place, and are not aware of the usuals of the place...

there is not rating for a newbie... some guys in the community are newbies with 500 posts, and some are not anymore after 2 or 3 posts because they have the ability to integrate easily...

i was not rating the friend here, just the way it was entered in the discussion...

Oh, I thought you called him a newbie judging only by his join date.
