Luckily I have Windows 98, so I'm not really effected by this. But hopefully this is for the better, and the next Windows version (Longhorn I think) has more security fixes.

long horn as of right now is buggier than the apha of windows 98

Windows 98 has alot of security loop holes still. anyone still running windows 9X i would tell to at least upgrade to 2k

Linux is a good os, if your willing to build your own programs or use crappier versions.

if you want security, try mac osx.x
or freebsd

if you want what the world uses try windows

That's because Longhorn is still in alpha stages as well, at least the downloads I have seen for it.

If your going to get the same issues(bugs) that 2k shares with xp, might as well go for xp

Speaking of Longhorn, I don't know about how secure it will be but say goodbye to mp3 and movies. Because of Palladium and Intel's TCPA you won't be able to listen to music or watch movies anymore. It will be worse if MS stops supporting the earlier Windows versions in order to make everyone to move to it's 'more secure' Longhorn. Why do you think they're releasing it in 2005 ?

There will be no way in hell they can stop mp3's and movies. There will always be a hacker out there who makes some hack to get around it.

And besides if they stop with mp3 and movies I am now offically a Mac user.

They were also saying it would be more like a service. Pretty much meaning if you want a feature buy it. I hope someone makes bill relize he already has enough money. Actually the public will probley let him know by going to mac. Then I'm sure most programs will also be useable on mac.

Steve is right, it almost impossible to prevent piracy of any kind. And if that happens, then there will always be that special someone who beats the system

Yes, I totally agree. I hope hackers release a crack to bypass Palladium OR game/applications producers start developing for Mac/Linux. If Longhorn will include 'pay-to-access' feautures like Pay for accessing .mp3 and .avi/.mpg files then I'll no longer use Billy's OS. Linux is starting to be more desktop oriented (DVDs already work under Linux and game developers are starting to releaqse linux ports of their games) and if it continues like this we won't need Windows anymore.
