Will I have to upgrade to 2.2.9 before I upgrade to 3.0?

Remember - Alot of your hacks can be ported over with a little code and template editing, alot may become irrelevant, and some may be re-released by the Hack authors for vB3

I think what he's trying to say is that it requires little effort to port the hacks over to vB3. vB2 hacks won't work with vB3.

Oh well I'm using an old version and adding 2.2.6 and .9 hacks all the time. Most people don't realize that many of the hacks work on really old versions. :smoke: It's actually pretty cool. People are always like, "Will this hack work on 2.2.6?" I going through the thread after I installed it and get it working, because I'm getting it to work fine with 60-70 other hacks I have installed and running on 2.0.x

So if that's the same trouble I will be having appling 2xx hacks to VB3, then it's not as bad as I thought.

I even noticed a large hack that will allow multiple attachments for 2xx and that has been a big factor in me deciding to only upgrade as far as version is taken by the development team. If VB3 is released and I see it running on a lot of boards or people make some insane hacks for it that are a must have for me, I will consider upgrading to VB3, but most likely I don't think there is any type of hack that would be interesting enough to me, to make me upgrade to VB3. I think upgrading to the latest 2 VB version is going to take a good week or so of my time that I have to code the site. After all I've spent over 2 years adding hacks to my board. :rambo:

Trying to make a 2.2.0 hack work for 2.2.6 or vice-versa is different to trying to make a 2.2.x hack work for 3.0.0 - 2.2.x uses the same variables and functions. 3.0.0 has been TOTALLY recoded.

Oh. OK. Well, I'm good with running the latest version of 2xx when I upgrade. I figure since VB3 isn't being released too soon, or in a big rush, that there aren't any known security bugs in the latest 2 version and that is mainly what I'm looking for.
