Quick Reply Box

Here's an easy one, it barely took 4 minutes to do. :china:
This hack will add a quick replying box at the bottom of all threads, only if the user has permission to reply, so when you need to reply to something real quickly you don't need to click the Post Reply button and wait for the page to load.

Instructions are in the attached .txt file, and if you want a demo... just look below.

Extras:

• If you want users who have the Use Email Notification option ON, to automatically subscribe to threads they reply to with this hack, see this post.

I've done this hack and it works perfectly. However when I checked back on my board it says this error:

I tried uninstalling it but it is still there. Any ideas?

well i installed it on 2.3.0 and the window was on top of the thread, and aslo, i tried to post and it didnt post at all.

It is at the top of the thread because you didnt put it down far enough. There are two instances of <!-- first unread and next/prev -->. Look for the one near the bottom.

Ok it went to the bottom thanks..


Still have the problem that its not posting, i click reply and it takes me to a "page cannot be found"

I searched further back in the thread and read this about your problem.

Nombsaid this:
Either turn on file_uploads on your webserver or remove the enctype from the <form> tag to avoid this.

P.S. I fixed my MYSQL errors. It had to do with another hack when I set my NIX to anything but 0.

hey, i love the shoutbox and have been using it ever since it came out, but now for my new forums, vb 2.30, i installed it and everything works great cept for 1 thing, whenever someone posts in it, the posts count 27 times and it crashes my forum till 10 minutes.. does anyone know what the problem is?

I removed the enctype from form and still is not posting.

anyone can help?

my problem is that i have 2.3 and when i type in the box and hit reply, it takes me to a "not found" page......

rehack it. it works fine on 2.3.0

also are you talking about the quick reply or anouther hack.

the qrb (quick reply Box) works perfectly on 2.3.0

I've just installed the upgrade to 2.3.0

I've noticed that in this hack, the first insturctions says:

if ((!isset($pagenumber) or $pagenumber==0) and $pagenumber!="lastpage") {
$pagenumber=1;
}

That last part:

if ((!isset($pagenumber) or $pagenumber==0) and $pagenumber!="lastpage") {
$pagenumber=1;
}

IS not in the Showthread.php

so...BEFORE I make a mistake...I figured I would ask....do I just ignore it?? OR do I do something else???
