In the real world, as countless of others have said.. You have a country who was no longer happy with their elected president or the results that came about after our last president was elected. Numbers don't lie, people lie.. and the numbers show that we do want change. Being that Obama represents just that, of course America is thrilled. Most of the people I know now have the opportunity (some for the first time) to say "I'm proud of who our country's president is".

No one expects an overnight change, I agree that people who do need to get out of their fantasy. But there's no doubt that people are expecting and desiring change in general, for the better of course. With the right backup by congress, actions from us as Americans (we all need to play our role), and our newly elected president, we can now reestablish the hope and motivation our country needs and deserves.
im from the Uk (Great Britain except theres nothing great about it) - you know the country that sucks up to america.I dont really care about who is in power in the USA but its not even a week after elections and u lot are like `we changed the world` `Im proud of the president we have` - lets see the changes take effect then start telling us how proud you are.

Anyway fire away cause theres a difference here - i dont really give a damn about the UK - this country went to the dogs a long time ago.

They also talked about several other issues, so it sounds to me as though you were selectively listening. I don't want to turn this into a flamefest but as someone who's actually been to Iraq and Afghanistan supporting my military, and as someone who's line of work is to keep the troops alive, I don't appreciate the spin you're putting on things by picking out select tidbits to support your posts.

With all due respect, if you really feel this way then you should take the time to do some homework on the matters at hand, because if you tried to make this point around me, or 99% of the people I associate with, you'd get verbally slapped around because you really don't seem to know what you're talking about.

Actually, you'd be mistaken there. Obama gave a rather significant speech about race mid-way through the primary called "A More Perfect Union".

I'd also have to disagree with you that there's something wrong with black folks being proud to have one of their own in the White House, especially when he's a qualified person to be proud of. There's nothing pathetic about that.

I understand why some people say they don't see color. What they mean is race doesn't matter to them. But I think we should come up with a better expression. Because I do see color. You can't celebrate diversity, if you can't see what makes us different. You can't change what's wrong with race relations if you don't acknowledge where the problems are coming from. This was too important a step forward for race relations the world over for us to diminish it as if people where just giving in their own worst instincts. The opposite is actually true.

See? for some reason nobody can avoid the issue; so here my speech:

I AM NOT RACIST

" I'm not racist although some parts of my body are black and some parts are white, and God knows I never want to see them together! "
