Version One has the side column only down the side of the forum listings.
Version Two has the side column down the side of the forum listings and the whats going on box.
In both instances the instructions are practically the same, apart from the second template edit.
To prevent confusion, I have created two installation files according to which version you require.
To modify the side column, edit the template 'sidecolumn'. The info that is in there is simply a template for you to use. You do not need to use <table> tags in the template as they are included in the forumhome edits.
If you are unsure which version you require, take a look at the attached screenshots and see which one you prefer.
The file names are the version numbers.

will this work if I were to stick the 'what's going on' into this new left column?
No, sorry it won't work with the whats going on box as it distorts the whole page. I'm going to be working on a version that does that in the next 10 days.

This modification does not edit or create any tables in the database. From the links that you have provide it appears that you are referring to a modification that adds custom links to your navbar via the ACP.
