I dont like norton stuff as i class them as bloatware. Thats the main problem with upgrading - that is getting a virus checker and firewall to work. Also on a side note - i can get Internet access in Win 7 but for the love of money i cant get a connection to msn (just says server is busy - try again later) Yet it aint because if i reset and pick my other OS i can connect to MSN straight away. |

It's a known issue if you upgrade one beta version to another. |

The win7 RC is available and can be run till 01,June 2010.
I installed the 64bit version on a spare partition and it flies. This is waaaaaaaay better than 64bit Vista . It picked up and dealt with all the hardware in seconds and has so far run flawlessly all day. I would definitely not upgrade to Vista 64 at this stage, wait for win7. |

running 64 versions of any new OS brings with it new problems.
Software wont install and the one i wanted : Adobe photoshop wont even install on xp 64 Messenger live is another problem program as well as finding decent firewalls and virus checkers that work as well. Was a fresh format on a new drive for the install of win7 Beta.Still cant log into MSN. |

The list is growing. When the Win7 beta started it only had Norton, McAfee and AVG. Quote:
The only problem application that I have found is iTunes but that is pretty squarely on Apple and their crappy Windows support built into the application. Heck, It took almost a year after the release of Vista for them to get a version that worked on that OS. |

Is there any reason you feel the need to go to a 64 bit?
If all you do is gaming, most games will run in 32 bit and call it a day, very, very few utilize the 64bit. Also you'll need a 64bit processor, and there isn't any real reason to go to 64bit unless you need over the 4GB of ram. |

My stats are as follows : AMD Phenom(tm) 9950 Quad Core Processor 2.60 GHZ Memory *4 gig 64 Bit OS Yet i only get 4.6 on the windows experience Index Ive just built this system last week as well as i decided to upgrade to Quad chip from a dual core. My GFX card is PCI-e (NVIDIA Geforce 8500 GT |

In Windows 7, your experience score is going to be limited by the lowest scoring device. In your case its most likely your video card unless your hard drive is dog slow. You would increase that score by dropping a 8800 or 9800 card in there without too much expense.
My graphics card is an 8600 GT and it nets me a 5.3 on the experience scale. I don't think anyone really uses the scale at this time. At least not like Microsoft intended it to be used. |
