This is just a reminder for members here, that's all, since a few of them were linking to their vB3 test forums here.

I am also trying to setup a test forum for my client. the original forum has some major issues that can't be repaired without the posibility of loosing the whole site, as well as reinstalling all the hacks.
So I would like to install a test forum in this dir. "http://www.yoursite.com/testvb/forums/install/install.php" while still having the org at "http://www.yoursite.com/forums/index.php" But when I saw step 2 in the install instructions, "empty the database." I was wondering if the original Database would be overwritten, thus distroying the org site. Or am I O.K. to go. as long as I don't choose to empty the Database? I'm a click away from the test install. Thanks in advance. |

First off, BACKUP your database!! Either locally to your PC or on a file stored on your server.
Secondly, install the test forum on a seperate database than the live forum. Do a clean install, then take the backup and upload it into the new database. |
