CAUTION: If you only have 1 vB license, do not make your vB3 test forums public

This is in the README HTML file you downloaded with your vB3 Beta ZIP file:

Quote:

Please note that the vBulletin License Agreement allows you to run both a public installation of vBulletin and a non-public installation for your own testing purposes. However, the 'non-public' part of this license means that you may not run both a public vBulletin 2 installation and a public vBulletin 3 installation at the same time. The license allows for only one public installation of vBulletin.

Read it carefully, and follow it. You don't want to break your license agreement, as it gives Jelsoft the right to revoke your license.

This is just a reminder since I have noticed many members running vB2 forums while posting links to their vB3 test forums as well. If you have only 1 license, then you have to make your vB3 test forums non-public.

What defines non-public? Password protected directory or just an unpublished url?

filburt1 06-14-2003 06:50 PM

It's described in the license agreement.

Thanks.

If you have a valid licence, you may set up an additional test forum in order to test code, template and database modifications. To make this clear to us and our licence verification procedures, place it in a directory called 'testvb' and be sure to password protect it. It must not be accessible by the general public.

Upgrading my live forums? Ha, not on your life. When I see the big RC, thats when. :) How about you?

Tony G 06-16-2003 11:58 AM

I'm doing the same thing, maybe not as early as the RC's though.

Threshold 06-16-2003 06:37 PM

Sorry about the n00b question, but what is the RC?

I just bought my vB2 license about a month or two ago, so the concept of moving to vB3 is a tad daunting. :)
