I am not allowed a Laptop, She said sommat like "you would even use it in the toilet", Not sure what she was implying.
I have used them before an i just cant get on with them, too small for my liking, If i did ever get 1 it would be purely for the portability... |

You can buy laptops with 21 inch screens now so your argument is wrong. |

Well, I just end up using the laptop (and old G4 17") everywhere I go. It fits in my backpack, so the weight isn't an issue, it runs WoW smoothly enough, and runs all the image stuff I need. The mac laptop has become a bit of a lifestyle choice for me, so I never use our desktop any more.
I like things 'just so' when I use a machine, so it makes sense for me to take the same one everywhere. |

Switched from Desktop to Laptop last summer, this X-Mas I got myself a mad one. Only downside is the heat, I'm afraid of leaving it on for too long. Been reading about way too many laps that overheated.

I've been on a desktop PC since I first started using a computer regularly, probably 10 years ago. I agree with a couple people here that stated that it's nice to be able to walk away from the desktop and take a break every now and then. I also like having my desktop plugged into my television and surround sound system for excellent entertainment.
I've never had a laptop of my own, but I think I would really enjoy having one. It would give me the opportunity to go sit in another more comfortable room and chat with friends if I've having a lazy day. And more recently, I'd be able to take it with me to meet with a current or prospective client - no more jotting down in notebooks and such. So basically, I think it's the best of both worlds. Just wish I HAD both worlds ![]() |

1) I can upgrade my Desktop periodically to keep on the bleeding edge, I can't do that with a laptop.
2) My desktop will always outperform/embarass the 'best' laptop at the time. I have a laptop for work (on-site programming) and I use my desktop for everything else. |
