TBH, when I first came up in here I hated it. I come from Sitepoint where everything is warm and cozy. Coming to vb.orgwas like walking into hell. People seemed nasty and backbiting. It was a RTFM type group. If that's the community spirit you wanted I'm glad it's not here anymore. But as a result of squashing that atmosphere, it seems like everyone disappeared into their little holes.

There aren't as many hacks for vB3, for one, because it hasn't been out as long as vB2. I think once more really nice hacks, at the level of the store hack or vB arcade come out, more people will have reasons to stop by.
![]() And Sketch, I agree with you to an extent. Sometimes I don't feel like posting a reply to a discussion, in fear of a nasty reply to my post. ![]() |

My guess is people are busy with their real lives. SitePoint has always been active, it crosses many programming languages, and is a one-stop portal for anything web design. There are a lot of professional web designers about there as well, thus making it a very thriving business community. vBulletin.org is mostly a portal for add-ons. My guess is most people are content with their vBulletin 3 version without having to install hacks for it, thus aren't spending the time at vBulletin.org as they had with vBulletin 2.

I admit being biased about Sitepoint since I'm an Advisor over there.

Another difference is that sitepoint isn't a leach site. It's a site where people with similar interests talk. This site has been overwhelmed with people who don't code and who have no intention of ever coding. They just want to download hacks, not read the instructions and then scream and yell for help or more features.
