I understand the logic behind not doing *too* much with hacks at this point, other than actually working on them so they might be ready to re-post when the gold code comes out.

However, where does one discuss how to fix hacks that were built for v2? I can't seem to find any general threads or documents on this (yet) - and I can understand that... but...

For example, I have some hacks that I can live without in v3 for a while - the weather one etc. Then I have some that make up my entire frot page, like last x posts, user login on non vb page etc. These are looking for files that no longer exist - like there isn't an admin directory anymore, so where is config.php and some of the others?

There is obviously more than just db changes with v3 - there seems to be some restructuring of the file system in general.

Or maybe we're not even supposed to talk about this yet either due to possible changes still to come?

Admin directory = /admincp
config.php = in /includes/

User login on non-vB page could probably be easily integrated into vB3, and the last posts wouldn't be much of a change from the current code to grab the information, if at all...

Things will change, but I don't think much will...

your integrations in vb3 are no problem, as you don't need to hack vb3 files but have to change your integrations.

as for the new filestructure: yeah it has changed a lot, but i think they did really a great work. i find the things i need without long searching

i aint hacked it yet.. just built an awesome style for it Hellsatan can vouch lol...

me and a few other peeps are making styles as with updates the tamplates will be renamed etc / added so its only small fixes for them really.

and if we are "messing with our vbs" i ont care as i,ll just shut my board for a day or two and update he style with any new upgrades :P

but yeah ia int gonna think about hacking until rc1.. tho in saying that i havent found anything i wanna change yet...

It's the style... if the styles were compatible, I would upgrade too... Plus Photopost is not compatible yet...

Unless I can keep my current hacks, I don't think I will be upgrading to the new version. I have a busy board, and disrupting it is not an option.

I agree with everythine you said, the new file structure is a great idea.

I like the new set up. I have added in one hack (posting frequency), done template mods, one add on(start of a portal).

I plan to hack alittle that I can just becuase even if it does change it will not be to drastic and I like having some goodies on the page.
