Keep in mind, I'm running vBindex with some additional features. The only optimization I've done so far is combining the queries for the total thread/post counts and the new thread/post counts. I may do more someday. I'm finding it takes some ingenuity, though, now that I've been trying myself.

normally on a good index.php it's 50:50
30 queries are a lot i think, you should try my forumhome optimization hack
