I dont see how you conclude that.

Personally I think we should only allow zip files (and images of course), but historically we allow a few others as well. There are no plans to add JS files to that list, and given that no one seems to have found this a problem over the last 8+ years, I dont see that its a great issue. Personally, I have never seen a mod that consists of just one JS file, that does not mean there arent any, but they must be very rare (and in fact, you could remove the need by using a plugin to inject any new JS).

Continuing to do something simply for the sake because 'that's how it's always been' is quite sad actually...

My Rainbow BB Code is just one .js file and my random text BB Code would have been if I could have uploaded one but instead I opted to just put the whole code in the BB Code replacement instead of the more efficient external file because it's easier then telling someone to rename a file.

Why have feedback forum at all if the answer is always 'because we always have done it that way.' ?

Don't you think you should include instructions with the js code? I hate coming across a product xml file (or any mod file) and it not having a text file that goes along with it that lists a quick description, mod revision, instructions to install and uninstall, etc. It seems much cleaner to put a text file and js file in a folder together and zip it. That way the file and text file are always together.

Install: Add a BB Code
Uninstall: Delete BB Code

I get you, I really do... I could put all the info from the first post into a text file but I would be the only BB Code developer to do this and I think it would just annoy users more... if the instructions are in the post why do I need to download a text file... if they're not in the post then I'm a lot less likely to bother with the mod if I have to download a file to 'see' it first.

My point has been made, if the powers that be choose not to act on it so be it, it's just ridiculous an admin can't be bothered to add the .js extension to the allowed files list. I guess it's too much to ask.

If that is all, why include a .JS at all? Following your instructions there seem to be no need to upload it somewhere.

PS Please do not forget that many users are not experienced in developing and have no clue what to do with such a file.

If a suggestion is really usefull then it is added, but it is not about time or effort like you seem to suggest as it costs us more time to respond to request then to simply add an extension.

But if you read back the thread, it is not such a no brainer, some other users also seem to share our point.

It could be done in Admincp --- Attachement Manager. allow .js extensions.

.js - javascript..

(not all people have java client installed in their pc)

Rar files are not secured. Virus problem may arise. So lets avoid .rar extensions as an attachment.
