We should be able to attach .js files...
JavaScript files... I think people are having hard times figuring out why they need to rename attached .txt files to .js before using them.
Should be an easy fix for someone with admin access. |
can you not zip them?

Why should I have to zip a single file? I can upload .txt files without zipping them. Why the extra step for .js files? is there some sort of security issue? Otherwise please re-consider- there are a number of times when a mod may consist of a single .js file, zipping is just more work for the author and the users.

In my mind, instructions for any modification should always be put into a text file - it's just a good idea to always have install instructions available on your computer for any modification your download instead of always having to go back to the modification thread. So, that means every modification should include at least one txt file. If you want to include any other files, then you would zip it together with the text file.

It takes like a half a second to zip one file...get over it lol

It takes 2 seconds to go to the Admin CP and add support for .js files to attachments...
That means once I (or me and 3 other people) have to spend a half second making zips 4 times then in the interest of time we're better served attaching them directly. Plus, most important, it makes it easier for the regular users. Seriously, this is like a 'no brainer.' |
