OR copy/paste it while in WYSIWIG mode like this:
**** copy/pasted from above The first link is to the thread, the second link is from the thread its self. Hover over the links and you will see its a broken link. That is because I copied it from vbulletin.com Source - http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...17#post1706917 |

If someone copies the post you made, and paste it into another forum, the link will be broken because it will contain ......... instead of the full URL.
_Ryfe_ if someone post those types of urls in your forum, that just means they copied them from another site. If their post contains more content then just a link, you could be looking at copyright issues. And then there is a duplicate content penalty from google. The people that are doing that kind of stuff - tell them to stop. They need to provide a link to the source where they got the information.. |

It has to do with whether you paste it into an editor in WYSIWYG mode. It has absolutely nothing to do with whether the url is from another forum or not. |

If I post a shortened url in the standard editor, it breaks the url. In quick reply, posting a copied url with ..... breaks the URL. But if you use the WYSIWYG editor, and paste a URL with .... the URL does not break? Because I copied that url from vbulletin.com with ..... in it, pasted it into the quick reply box, and when I posted it, the URL broke. |

That might be the reason why your links worked, and mine were broken. I do not use the WYSIWYG editor, but prefer the standard editor with extra formatting controls. Maybe the answer to the original question is to set the members to the WYSIWYG editor, instead of the standard editor - and disable quick reply. |

I did use Quick Reply. I used my mouse to highlight the text as seen over there (I didn't hit Quote or anything, just highlighted it as is), went apple + c (to copy), put my cursor in the Quick Reply box here, went apple + v (paste) and Post Quick Reply. I have the WYSIWYG editor set up to use in Quick Reply here.

So as long as they use the WYSIWYG editor - regardless if its in post reply or quick reply - the link should come out ok.
