Well if u want to have satisfied customers u better rethink of creating importers. No importer = No purchase. So jelsoft looses
Needless to say there are 460 installs of Interactive profiles and another 460 installs of Zoints.
So lets say 1000 boards. Assuming the official addons costs 50 (which will cost more than vblog) we are talking about 50k cash here and even more.
Do you honestly thing Jelsoft will give a crap? I know I wouldnt. How are they going to lose money? Its not up to them to provide you with tools to work with other hacks. They do not officially support hacking. If you want it that bad, get off your ass, get some books, and stop being spoon fed hacks. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem. And if you seriously think people will not buy their software because they didnt provide a importer you should just log off the internet now. Your example is not realistic and neither is your opinion.

They wouldn't provide importers because they don't support hacks/mods? Well as far as I know, vBlogetin and vB Journal are mods, yet they got an importer to the vB Blog product. Besides, some people have heavily modified and heavily use these social networking mods, so to tell them to just quit, uninstall and lose everything is ridiculous.

They do not officially support mods/hacks....that is correct. They provided importers because they are selling a new product and want to boost sales. The blog product is a stand alone product and sales would rely on an importer. The SN portion however will be free and included in the next release of vBulletin. The sales of vBulletin will be affected by less than .01% if they did not have an importer for an enhancement to their latest version.
I for one released the myspace rewrite hack and would most definitely switch and move over to vBulletins version providing it was more streamlined, integrated and proved to be better and wouldnt blink an eye to lose my current profiles over it. It will be easier for the end user in the long run.
