hehe.. i respect that. you don't have to speak greek as i understand mostly what you are trying to get at. btw, i'm in no way affiliated with them. i just feel it's not fair to blame them that way when their forum is so business-oriented. they are not like chit-chat forums where people just come to socialize. serious business is being done everyday there, and they compete with others. there's no reason for them to release the mod to allow competitors an easy way to catch up.
anyway, apparently you are one of mod authors here at the forum, and i understand your sentiment. keep up the spirit. cheers, |

I am not talking about bussiness oriented forums but forums that someone has as a hobby. Btw if you don't want a competitor to install your hack then just put a copyright notice in it with a link to your forum and don't allow them to remove it Who would directly link to their competitor? And if, strangely enough they do, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
You know, I used to think like them and I had many arguments with opensource fanatics. And when I started making hacks I thought sometimes "hey, why release this and have dozens of other forums to have it? Why not making my forum unique with it?". It's human. But then I thought that if everybody did that then I wouldn't have all these nice hacks that are released around here, many from much better coders than I am. And also, it's nice to know you made somebody's forum a little better. It's really nice and rewarding to hear things like "awsome hack! My members will love it!". Why not try to make the world a better place, even a little bit? |

It's entirely up to an author whether they release their own hacks, no matter how many they may download from here. I really don't care if someone downloads every hack I have released here and doesn't ever release anything of their own. It would be very stupid of me to release stuff, and then complain that people actually use it.

I think there are only 2 greek coders here, me and the one that released the AWS. That's not because the other greeks don't know how to code, it's because they haven't learned to share |

I've a pay to click script if someone would like to integrade to vbulletin or create a similar hack I can send for them |

We should always respect people's time, effort and desire to be paid/compensated for both. Conversely, people should have the right to retain ownership (not share) without having their morals being called into question.

Ok then it's me. Sorry, I can't change how I see these people...
(I'm not talking about people who release less than the ones they make or people that share their hacks for money. I am talking about those who write many hacks and don't release anything at all.) And Paul, you might say you wouldn't mind but if someone came and said "I'm not stupid to share my hacks! What would I benefit from something like that?" wouldn't you be mad at them? It's like calling you and the other coders stupid! |
