ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo Online Status
Looking for the vBulletin 3.6.x version? Developer: adb22791 - originally written for 3.0.x by BeerMonster Current Version: 1.0.6 vBulletin Version: Tested and Working on 3.5.7 Edits: 2 Template Edits (3 if you use both postbit and postbit_legacy) Please note: This modification only works on vBulletin versions 3.5.3 and later. This modification has not been tested on vBulletin 3.6.x yet. What it does: This modification displays your AIM/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo Online Status in the postbit_legacy or postbit templates, as well as the member info page, using an icon. Uploading the modification will add a new setting category called IM Online Status, where you can choose the server you use to display a users IM Online Status. Server lists, etc, can be found at OnlineStatus.org. There is also an option built in to turn this mod off and display regular IM Online Status Icons, should you have problems. To Install: Download the .zip file attached here, and upload the product via the plugin manager in your admin CP. Then open Install.txt in the zip file and follow the instructions for template edits. To Upgrade: If you are running version 1.0.5, follow the instructions in 1.0.6's Upgrade.txt. If you are running later than version 1.0.5, please upgrade to 1.0.5 and then 1.0.6. Current Bugs: (all current bugs fixed in 1.0.6) -None Reported Support Please ask for support in this thread only. I will try my best to answer whatever question you have, or to fix whatever problem you are solving. Please also make sure that an issue you are having has not already been reported. Changelog (Please note this is a limited changelog, the full changelog is included in the zip file). Version 1.0.6 (5th January 2007) Updated product to work with vBulletin 3.5.7Version 1.0.5 (16th June 2006) Incorrect template variables fixed ("$post[username]" and "$userinfo[username]") A few notes about custom icons... I have found through testing that using custom icons on your web server can make the online status icons load a lot faster. I suggest you download the icons from whichever online status server you use, and upload them to your forum directory (I put mine in images/icons). This is not necessary, just a little tip. Please Please Please remember that even tough this hack is stable, things can still go wrong. I cannot and will not be held responsible for anything this hack may do to your forum or theme. As always, I recommend that you backup your database before applying this hack. Also please note that I reserve the right to remove this mod at any time. If you use this mod please click Install. hey mate, I really wanted to put this hack on, but I have 3.5.1
I noticed you said it doesn't run on this anymore... is there anything I could do [extra template edits], or even an older version I could do so that I would work on 3.5.1? thanks mate |

If you look at the first post in the thread, you can use that version of 3.5.1. It doesn't have support for custom icons, however it has all the other features of the current hack.
I strongly suggest you upgrade, however, being as its so easy in 3.5.x. Thanks, |

in regards to upgrading, don't I lose all the custom template edits? coz that was the impression I had.
i've done so many edits I don't think it would be worth the hassle |

No, there should be no reason you would loose template edits. Make sure to make backups of your templates, database, and forum files before you do the upgrade though. If you have any code edits however, those will have to be redone.

Noticed a couple of bugs in the template changes:
Any references to "$userinfo[username]" in the postbit and postbit_legacy replacement should read "$post[username]" instead. Also, for the MEMBERINFO replacement, the original code isn't included in the event that IM Online Status is turned off (so you'd get nothing). BTW, I'm going to click install for this, but I'm going to have to leave it turned off for the time being. No matter what I do (regardless of which server I use) the script will only work for AIM and for Yahoo. It won't work at all for MSN or ICQ. (I even installed the actual clients - I normally use Trillian - and made sure the settings were correct in there, to no avail.) The script probably needs to be updated to include changes in the protocol, and I'm going to leave it off until that's done. I would appreciate it if you could keep us appraised in any updates in the situation, adb. |
