Why does Forum Home display completely differently than all other pages?
I've just about had it with this retarded program. Why is there a template manager if pages are going to arbitrarily ignore whatever you enter for your style? Why does the forum home ignore the css i have specified when all the other forum pages display properly? Why are there so many undocumented instances of page elements arbitrarily using the css setting from OTHER page elements rather than being included in the styles manager? I have entered the css setting for every page element I have acces to through the style manager/template editor. My page, specifically my forum home page ARE NOT using the css I have specified so can someone please tell me WHERE this program is pulling the css from??? I HATE this program.

Are you using the default style, or a custom one?
The HTML makeup for the forum's homepage is (surprise ) the "FORUMHOME" template in the style manager (to be found in the group "forumhome templates"). You could look up what CSS defs are refferenced in there. |

Actually, the html makep of the forums homepage is (no surprise a semi-random hodge-podge of css bits and pieces from all over the place, a situation not improved by the meticulous lack of documentation. As it turns out, one of the several problems I'm trying to fix was indeed the result of several modified lines in the forum_home_forumbit_level1_nopost template. Try doing a little research on that particularly well named (I assume) item and you will find the following concise documentation in the vbull 3.5 users manual: forumbit_level1_nopost - nothing forumbit_level1 - nothing forum_home forumbit - um, yes nothing forumbit - 3 guesses...(surprise indeed much nothingness Interestingly, at one point during this sordid ongoing nightmare of tortured frustration, I found myself to be in posession of a vbull forum home that has the ability to do what I had previously believed to be impossible: My forum can not only display text links in the catetory strip which are NOT the color I have specified, it can display such text links using one (wrong) color for the text characters in the link and a totally DIFFERENT (also wrong) color for the underline. !! Congratulations team vbull for yet another www first! Neat trick! Anyway, having abandoned all hope of ever getting this thing to display the way I had origially intended, I am down to one final mystery, which unfortuantely I cannot simply ignore: On my forums home page there are 2 particular forums near the bottom of the page that refuse to be displayed inside a table. All the other forums are inside a table, in the default vbull style these 2 also are in a table, but in my particular vbull custom design FROM HELL, they are not. Image attached (if not, I tried anyway) So my final question before I wander off to find a nice quite place to end my misery with a .45 round to the forehead is: Can anyone point me in the theoretical direction of the particular place within the vbull 3.5 styles/templates/forumbits editing monolith where one might specify ones desire to have 2 of 15 forums randomly be displayed in a format completely unlike all the other forums on ones forum home page? Specifically, to have them not be in tables like all the others, as though the designer were a complete idiot or for some reason thought this would look much better than a consistent layout, which, in fact, in my humble opinion, it clearly does not. I'm going to sit here and continue fraying my nerves a little while longer, if you here a distant gunshot please post your reply anyway, I may just be practicing my aim. |
