"Deleted" Modifications
Would the staff please restore any deleted modifications that weren't by request? Some of them contain discussion that is helpful to users. A yes or no answer will do.
Thanks |

Are the actual THREADS deleted?
All I noticed so far was that the attachments got deleted.... This is getting weirder and weirder.... |

Just in advance, I'd like to keep this as ontopic as possible... (I just want a staff response), so if you guys can keep replies out of this I would appreciate it.
To answer your question, I beleive they said no. Just moved to the "Recycle Bin". |

JumpD removed the attachments that contained his modifications. Less than half a day later, moderators deleted his hack threads because of "vb.org policy." These support threads had thousands of posts of helpful information. I just hope this gets resolved soon. It certainly hurts the community as a whole, and that makes me sad. More info here. I would like more information about this "policy" and how it can go about being changed. Lock the threads, maybe? Put 'em in a "hacks no longer available, but here's the thread anyway" forum? Anything is better than immediate and wholesale deletion (even if it is soft, and they can be reinstated.) |

Or at least, not yet. Let's wait and see what this discussion between coders and staff throws up shall we? I think any changes that are made should now be left until after that has taken place.. Hopefully we can get something arranged sooner rather than later. |

If there is no modification attached to a hack thread anymore, it is not considered a release, and is removed (nothing get's permantly deleted). This has always been the policy, and until know not led to any (major) discussion. I don't see why we should treat JumpD's hack's any different then others. If at any time an author wants to release his modifications again, he can always request the thread to be restored, this has happened enough in the past.
In most situations when an author announces that he is removing his hacks, and he deletes the files, the thread would be removed whenever a Staff member notice it. In this case we waited until the next day to give him a short period to rethink. |

Do you think that an achieved forum with no posting privledages would be a good idea to created? Then vBorg could host these abandon hacks, only moving abandon hack threads or giving the author the permission to move it to that forum if he/she wishes. Like the old 3.0 beta forums. As the author you were able to move the thread to the full release forum when it was out of beta stage.
At least this way the information is still visiable to users who still wish to read the content it has. Just an idea. |

We are currently discussing ways to allow such threads to exist but not be posted in, and readily available for others
