Uploading Attachments without Posting

I've looked over vBulletin.org and around the net to see if I could find a solution, however I've yet to find one that's available.

What I'd like to know is how I would go about using vBulletin's attachment form to upload attachments to the database without having to actually post a new thread or reply.

I'd like to be able to add attachments to the database through a form which would allow the same URL or PC based uploads.


If anyone would be so kind as to help, I'd appreciate it. I've taken a look at newattachment.php and attachment.php however my coding knowledge is limited more so to templates and basics .

nice idea, i'd be interested if this was created, coz it's nice to have the minimum post count so people can't just post a letter, but a picture can say 1000 words...

maybe something can be created so that vBulletin counts an attachment as 'x' letters, so if we define an attachment to equal 10 letters, then it will think you've typed 10 characters, and bypass the 'minimum post count' rule

I am more so interested in a way to upload an attachment using vBulletin so it is entered into the attachment table and sorted correctly (i.e. into the database or file storage, depending on which option is used).

This goes along the lines of file hosting and I would normally view the image hosting scripts used here, however they upload to directories and not specifically to vBulletin's attachment table.

Might want to repliacte the system personally, just don't store/use forum/thread ids, assuming everything is public for everyone.
