Send email or SMS cellular text Message to Buddies

Perhaps someone can steer me in the right direction.

I can probably do this in one of two ways.

II can make it so a user add the phone or email into a private field in their profile. I can then design it to pull from that field if the user sending it is in the buddy list of recipient.

or

I would prefer to make it sender completed where the user adds the information (because he knows the person) to a field in their buddy list that associates with the buddy. Then have the option to send an email or text to all users they select from their buddy list.

I was wondering where to start.

Any advice. I have managed to collect a list of our @serviceprovider text message emails so sending the sms to cells would be very easy. I would need to also be able to update and adjust these values as it may change or need to be updated dependant upon the location of visitors to our site.



I'm a noob to programming.
To save the information or allow a user to add "a note field" or a field period about a buddy. (like an address book so to speak) How would or where should I start at setting this up?

I am not sure how to tell the the file msg.php (which I'm making) to store the information to the database.
