Default vb as a wiki? "VIKI"

this is kinda request as well as a question...
so my question is.....(finally)

How hard would it be to, or "how do i..." turn vbull a forum in a wiki?
or "viki" ? (as an option). proper.

BACKGROUND:
I've been wanting and thus following the mediawiki integration thread for a while as Wiki is trend that is not going away and I really want to implement wiki stuff... but also want it to be well integrated with my boards.

As I came to use wiki more.. I realized a couple things...
  1. It somewhat competes with the content of my boards.
---> ie: wiki vs forums (pro and cons). There are many.
  2. vbulletin can actually do many of the thing that wiki can...just be setting the permissions up differently.
I played with that concept a bit and found it very easy to emulate a kind of "wiki forum" with vbull (or Viki? ) with a few key DIFFERENCES (from a user perspective).

Assuming that the core of a wiki is that its just a web page anyone can edit... all I did is just create a forum where:
  • EVERYONE gets full access and permissions. ie: editing.
  • every thread considered a designated "viki page".
(the main difference was just positioning - ie: calling them wikis, so to speak.)

the main differences, from user perspective is:
  1. A "viki post" is associated with an ID. A wiki page is just a page (simply: no postbit)
  2. you can't track changes as indepth like you can with a wiki (not that I know of at least).. where you have a list a changes with who changed them etc. and you can't track individual edits (like id appears next to the edit).
  3. first post must be pinned (like on this forum!!)
  4. the viki post doesn't have a unique customized/personal url and its not something you can have on your own site, proper. (that is, I can install mediawiki script, for example, for my own website and start "my own" wiki.
other than that....
are there really any other major differences? I admittedly I'm not very familiar with wiki... but there isn't much else to it, imo.
I don't know about everyone else...but I find wikis totally confusing. and vbulletin functions in a wiki would be a dream. I hate learn new mark languages...even simple ones.

anyone wanna take this up as "MOD REQUEST"??
(hey if everyone can go off and make a vbSpaces mod...why not a wiki one? its all php, no?)

thoughts? or I am just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out there? (entirely possible )

Count me in as an enthuisastic supporter of this question/initiative.

There must be common ground for admins who are both Wiki and vBulletin fanatics.

There are mods that do almost everything you want already.

#1 and #4 are almost the same. If you look at the SEO mods available, I'm sure someone can write up something quick to rewrite thread URL's in a specific forum to show up like a wiki's.

COOL. thanks for the information! I'll have to check it out and see if I can slap something together for testing.
