Latest Post Feed on Forum Home (Like UBB Content Islands)

Is it possible to create a feed of the latest posts in X forums and display that feed on the forum home? I have looked at this hack: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...est+posts+feed but it isn't exactly what I want. I would like to have three columns of feeds under my navbar. These feeds will not show latest threads, but latest posts. In UBB classic they have a feature like this which they call Content Islands. I'm pretty sure PHPBB has the same option because I've seen it done on several forums.

I'd really appreciate some help getting this to work. My old UBB forum was just migrated to vBulletin and the users are really missing the latest posts summary that was once present.

I've searched vb.org and could not find anything specifically suited for this need, but I did find several people looking for the exact same thing.

I can provide a screenshot of exactly what I want to accomplish incase my description here is hazy.
