allow mod owner to remove posts
If you made it so the owner of the thread - the user who created the mod - could respond to each post at a later date (like a drop down box stating: "answered / fixed / problem solved / still a problem / bug found / bug fixed / feature addded / won't add feature ") and also the ability to hide the post (a simple minimise like digg.com do with their comments [p.s. i'm about to get someone to work on this as a mod for me, and i shall release on vb.org] )
This would mean, we wouldn't have to read through 5 pages of comments, just to find out whether: a) the mod still has problems b) the features we want have been added (as some of the mods were created in 3.5.0 beta) so for instance, i wouldn't have to read any of the bugs or comments regarding the mod for version 3.5.0 beta, as the moderator of the forum, or the mod owner has hidden / chosen 'problem solved' for the posts. What does eveyrone think? This site has become far too big to allow a feature like this not to be added - it would make modifying a forum a hell of a lot easier! |

Sounds like a lot of work for the author - I would much rather see a proper bug reporting system for each hack, so the hack itself would just have a note say "x outstanding bugs" and the the thread would not be full of old {solved} problems.

I like both ideas.
I've thought for a while that some hacks are just insane with dozens or hundreds of replies, and usually half are bug reports, some are "this is great!!", some are "I can't install this", some are just general... and yes it takes ages to read through everything before you realise that out of the 100 posts you just read, only 10 are actually useful for the hack itself. It would be some work for the author to maintain, but I think authors would prefer to keep their threads tidy, which would benefit everyone. In terms of just bugs a bug tracking system would be ideal. |

We are working on a system for that issues, it's just not finished yet, but i don't think it'll take too much time...

Question, are removed mods allowed to be used? Are they allowed to be shared one to one with people?
(basically this msn invite thing I want to try before I buy/donate) |

well, actually no
if a mod is removed for a reason (for example copyright reason) or by the author itself, you are not allowed to redistribute it even in private. That's breaking the law. Of course it has nothing to do with vb.org anymore, so we cannot do anything, but it would still be illegal, and you have to know yourself if you want to risk it. |
