Help: Moving Forums to a new server
Hi,
My domain name is being renamed - what this means is that I will lose all my files etc... To restore the forums on a new host can I: simply download my forum directory and upload it to the new location. The SQL DB should remain intact and at the same location so all I would have to do is update the bburl in the settings table and the odd chmod for the avatars folder etc... Have I missed anything? Thanx Ben |

Are you sure that your database will stay accessible?
What is exactly going to happen? |

In short the domain name of my forum is changing.
I staying with the same host but I have just decided that I dont trust them so I am going to back up the forum db and rebuild forum itself from scratch. Once I have rebuilt the forum, restored the db and changed the bburl - everything should be ok, or have I missed something? :nervous: |

you don't have to move any of your files to change a domain name if your on the same host.. your host should be able to rename the account if your not a reseller..

All should be ok then. Maybe check to see if your cookie path/domain is set to default.
