Registered users can only post X amount of times

I want to set it so registered users can only post 50 times, they are then restricted from posting until they become a full paying member through subscriptions.

Is this possible, i tried using promotions to change to a different usergroup but with it being a shceduled task that runs it doesnt cut off dead on that amount of posts!

Pleas help?
