I have a controlled access site. I use htaccess with the reference to a flat file in txt format.

I'm looking for an existing hack that someone might have done that will take the user signup information to enter the site, and write it to the registration of the forum, too. - before I launch into attempting to do my own.

Thanks.

JW.

No hack of this sort has been created.

i've seen it somewhere. When you change the pasword of your login(your login for the board in my profile) the password of htaccess also changes.

Thanks.

What the plan is...create one, or find one!!

Due time, hopefully the latter.

So, with the proviso that I haven't looked at the VBulletin that much yet, and keeping my head above water paddling like mad right now...

Plan to make the registration in the "public" ie accessable area - using the VBulletin and write to the htaccess txt file, too. Seems to be the simplest. Changes to the password would change the profile, and the text file.

I want to add a random character to the requested password, so that the email notification is required with the user's valid email address to make the password work, likely using the rand().

I have this all set up in cgi, but will have to modify it. Rather than do that, I'll just hack the VBulletin, when I can get my PHP up to speed - being kind of Perl cgi oriented right now.

I have all this working in Perl, but the script is just scalable enough in the CPU resources the cgi demands with a high refresh rate at peak.

IF someone has seen the hack PLEASE let me know, and save me duplicating it.

Thanks.

JW.
