"New Posts" Since Last Visit?
I am new to vBulletin and I have some questions.
I'm currently looking thru all of our settings on our rather large site and one of the things thats kinda been bugging me since our last upgrade to 3.0.6 (13 months ago) is that when a member clicks "New Posts" at the top of the forum - it only returns the last 100 posts. Before the upgrade - searching "New Posts" would return every post made to every forum since your last visit. Because we get a TON of traffic and several hundred posts a day this was a great way to view the activity...however, now, its almost useless. I have found the setting where you can change the number of returns (its set at 100 right now) but what I'm looking for is the ability to view all of the new posts since your last visit...does this option exist in this version? We'll be upgrading to 3.5.X in the coming months...does this option exist there? Any advice would be great Thanks, Brandy |

All searches are limited by the max results setting you appear to be referring to. There are at least two hacks (probably more) that will display something like "You have xxx new posts since your last visit" - but again, the actual new posts search will be limited by the max results setting.

Ok...so I have another question maybe *someone* can answer...(can you tell I have no clue what I'm talking about yet?) On a users profile it has a section called, "Group Memberships" - what's this for? We don't use it - I don't know if its by choice or just because the last admin was even more clueless than I am (Hard to believe, huh?)...what would one use this for and/or how can I remove it from the profile? Thanks again, Brandy |
