That is simple, those are ports of existing hacks that were submitted previous to the rule being implemented. Those hacks were promised support by the authors in its 3.0.x version and due to the security flaws in 3.0.3/4/5/6/7/8/ect a ported version was allowed as support for those hacks was promised previous to the rule.

I have the winning lotto numbers.....too bad they are last weeks and not today's or I would be a millionaire. Timing is everything. Its not fair but nor would removing support from hacks that were promised so.

I have been up for 48 hours and just put back together my xps laptop after applying some arctic silver to my gpu and cpu.... I was struggling to remember where each screw went and think I may have a few loose at this point. lol

I am trying to overclock my Radeon 9700 mobile he he.

I cant remember a specific date, but know it was recent. Paid scripts have never really met open arms here honestly. I beleive with the recent trend of coders converting scripts over to paid version that were once free here, prompted the changes or revisions. I am sure its not for any dislike or lack of respect for the authors or their respective script(s), but the legal repercussions of endorsing or providing a medium for their distribution.

er, im really confused now. FOC add-ons for commercial scripts can no longer be released here?

i.e. my Geek Gallery Popup for PhotoPost and vba,er I mean PhotoPost vbGallery?

SigmaChat add on? Userplane stuff?
Anything that is free but requires a commercial script (i.e. vB) is not allowed here? Even styles that look like web sites that sell commercial goods?

Isnt this a bit like swatting a fly with a shotgun?

Yup, we are well into the realm of stupid. it looks there are some whiners from the poll that just cant believe that most of us want commercial hacks here. As Marco posted:

I might have been to fast on removing it after a complaint
Looks like what some cant win in the polls they are trying to do by fiat.

I only can hope its an over sight and that the info is either wrong or the idea wasn't fully thought through.

I cant for the life of me figure out why someone would complain about an admincp style that was FOC. Nor can I figure out why FOC add ons for commercial scripts are now banned.
Are we now going to go through the memberinfo hack to censor any information on how to get your gallery to show up?

tsk tsk. Seems a real shame.

Wayne said there were over 100 commercial addons for VB, I guess we have to just get lucky to find them... Another bonus of membership.

that's harsh, he got trigger happy and has admitted his mistake, not only that he actually publically thanks another member of staff for rectifying that mistake. let's not forget all the great work he's done as a hacker, poster and moderator for this community.

There has been a rule here for along time:

Quote:
5) Uncommercial vbulletin hacks that integrate vbulletin into third party independent commercial software CAN be released in vbulletin.org provided that the hack thread is not created to promote the sales of the commercial product. (Independent scripts are the software that are able to run without needing vbulletin).
Note the bolded part.

Now that said there are many, many hacks already released that do not fully comply with this rule. In fact I removed two hacks the other day due to this rule only to restore them later after having a look around the hack forums. As I told these two members it would not be fair to punish them while allowing others to release such hacks here. There are only two courses of action at this point: Changing the rule, or 'cleaning house' and removing all of these hacks at once.

I lean towards the first option, because I think such hacks are a good resource and would rather see them here where more users can support them and create add-ons.

This will go to staff discussion, I'll make sure to let everyone know the outcome.

As for the vBSEO admin cp style, removing it was a mistake and we have corrected it. I hope you all can understand that we are not perfect and sometimes things like this happen. We always do our best to make sure things are right in the end, even if we stumble some along the way.
