Tag a Post as "Bad Info"
One problem most forum owners have is the spreading of bad/wrong information. Some people just guess at the answers of questions and others don't know not to listen to that bad info. Now, if you have a ton of moderators who can delete that info before too many people read it, that's one thing. But I think a better way to handle it would be to allow the moderators (and other selected usergroups) to be able to "tag" a post (for lack of a better term) when it is deemed bad information.
For example, a user asks a question, and 4 other users reply. One of the replies contains the wrong answer. Instead of hoping the user will scroll down and find out that another user disputed that wrong answer, it would be nice to have a button that will "mark" the post with a distinct icon or something. This way, anyone who comes across that post in the future will see the reply and know that it is not the right answer to the posted question. This icon would show up somewhere in the postbit template. I guess this would be similar to giving the post a bad rating. And to add on to this feature, it would be nice to keep record of who posts bad info. You could show how many times a user receives the bad info tag in their profile if you wanted - almost like a post count - I guess it would be a "bad post count". It could say something like "Given Bad Info 4 Times" and then allow users to search for those specific posts to see the bad info for themselves. Does this make sense? |
