Hello Everyone,
I was runnig MySQL v3.23 previously, and my db dumps worked fine .. However, I have since upgraded to v4.1.8a-log and I am having problems getting completed (or non corrupt) backups.. The problem is pretty big.. My Original Backup of the DB using 3.23 was 208MB --- When I upgraded to 4.18 the backup is only 138MB ... My users Avatar's, all attachments, etc are totally whacked out. Does anyone have any insight on what is causing this, and how to fix it? Any help is appreciated.. I need a new good backup desperately This is from my corrupted DB: ![]() This is supposed to be the actual avatar: ![]() My original install was w/ an RPM from the Redhat Network, I uninstalled all RPM's associated w/ MySQL, Apache, and PHP and downloaded the latest of everything and compiled it. After I did an updatedb on my box, I searched for "mysqldump" and "mysql" to confirm it was gone -- nothing was found, except for the stuff in webmin (I don't use webmin to backup) The command I had typed to backup my DB is as suggested in the Support Documentations on this site. mysqldump --opt -Q -u <user> -p 3avBu > /backup/forumbackup-01-03-2005.sql ./mysqldump Ver 10.9 Distrib 4.1.8a, for redhat-linux-gnu (i686) |

My similar question:
Using the Admin CP to save the backup or to upload avatars sets the files user as Apache which needs to be different so I can access or backup these files. I looked into config.php but I don't see where I can specify a specific user name for the php to use when uploading or backing up. Any solutions for this Nubie? |

Let me try to explain:
If a member uploads an avatar or profile pic, If I use the admincp to upload avatars, If I use backupDB to create a SQL file on my server. My server is setting those files to Apache as the group and User when it needs to specify my Username and group. The file permissions are wrong as well rw - - instead of rw r- r- The lame part about this is when I try to backup those files I get a permissions error because I'm not Apache. I have to resave those files localy and re-upload them useing FTP and reset their permissions. LAME, this shouldn't be... |

What are the permissions of the directory in which the files are saved?

All my attachments and uploaded avatars have this problem:
![]() The PHP is setting the permissions wrong. (apache) It should be my username: holidayv So I cant back up that file! My work around is to browse to the Members Page copy the image. Delete the apache file through my servers file manager and re-upload the file through FTP. Lame! Lame! Lame! How in the world am I gonna fix all the attachments that way in order to back them up? This problem makes it so I can't even do anything via FTP with the apache files. I've tried the Safe Mode On/Off Temporary Directory tmp/ and CHMOD 777 fix but still no joy. |

You should ask your host to fix the apache/php settings for you.
Are you on a shared or a dedicated host? |

Shared host.
I have a 4images site on the same server. I just noticed the same thing with the files it uploaded through the php but those files have a permission of RW RW RW Where in the whole process does Vbulletin tell an Apache server what permission to make the uploaded file? Is it something I could edit in a config or php file? Both websites have safe mode off. |
