Hi
I'm trying to access the contents of the vB mysql tables, and although I'm sure that I'm entering the correct username, password and host etc, it's still telling me that I don't have enough privileges. Is this some security that's built into vB. Is there anyway around this? I find it useful with my other databases to see data using a client (I use cocoamysql on Mac) and it is easier to upload entries into a table if I need to. All help appreciated. |

Please describe your (MySQL) configuration including version numbers.

I think this is what you mean:
phpMyAdmin 2.6.2-pl1 (the web based software on my host) [Cocoamysql Version 0.5 (0.5) for Mac is my MySQL client on my desktop.] MySQL 4.1.12-log running on localhost as myuser@localhost When I try and access the database (using a client that's not web based - I normally use CocoamySQL, which works fine with other non-vB databases) I get an error saying I don't have the privileges. Really strange but if would help me populate a table I created very quickly and I will need to change the table contents often for the project I'm working on. Thanks for your help. |

Well i don't have any experience with Mac clients, and i don't know if it support new encrypted passwords. You could try enabling old style passwords in your mysql config.
Also make sure you have the correct username/password and that your Mac have permissions to access (if it is not the machine running mysql, that is not clear in your post). Otherwise you might want to try posting at vb.com, probably more peole using mac's there. |

ok thanks I will try again. And maybe it will work out.
(My mac shouldn't really affect things as it is only running the client to connect to the database which is hosted by another company on a separate package [so I should just input the same settings and options as I would do with a PC]) Thanks for you help though. |

If the database is hosted at a hosting comapny, they probably don't allow exterenal connections to the database.
