the chat room is very slow and lagging, is there any way to speed up the refresh rate?
also, a lot of users are having problems with submission before they are ready. A lot of times it will submit when hitting the spacebar and words come out jumbled or submit twice. any one else experiencing this?

I think that i read somehwere that the refresh rate is a setting somewhere (probably inside the script. Be aware however that increasing the rate could serious effect the performance of your server (and on a shared host even get your account suspended).
soo...how do you adjust it? I'm going to search the php right now...i'll let you guys know..i'm on a dedicated server so performance and what not cannot bother me.
couldn't find anything to edit...found something called "postime=(0,10)" but i dunno...maybe if i change 10 to like 5 or something? I dunno man...someone that actually codes, help?
Wow, do I feel stupid. For the last few days I've been playing with the refresh time. Out of the box, it is set at 8 seconds. One my users and I have been experimenting, and found that 4 secs seems to be a reasonable commpromise for most of our users.
So when I saw this message, I thought, gee maybe I can help someone else for a change. So I went looking for the place, which I last modified 2 days ago. AND, I can't find it. I found it the first time by accident today I can't find it all. I think this what they call a senior moment
As soon as I find it again I'll post it.
Ok, it is template chat_main.
Search for setInterval("chatFrameReload
The number at the right is the refresh rate in millesecs. ie. 8000 = 8secs, 4000 = 4 secs.
Any way a piont to the author. This a great add on to vBulletin and it is going to stay on my board. But some of myusers are very upset about the refresh rate. Not only should there be an Admin settable default /min rate and Max rate, but each user should be able set their own rate between those 2 limits.
A refresh that is visually for good one user is not good for another and/or not good for the server. Remember that High rates can effect overall server performance.
I suppose I could hack the code to do this, but I retired from the computer business after 35 years and as a matter of principal I don't code anymore. Besides, I really don't want to ahve learn PHP.
Anyway, I wish the author would supply the changes. I know that I would be more inclined to recommend the product and to make a donation.
