A few members on my site have expressed an interest in this, and I have no idea if its really possible. They were wondering if it would be at all possible to send text messages to someones cell phone thru the forums (or even receive alerts to new posts and such).

I'm putting this in the vb 3.5 requests cause I'm planning to update as soon as it goes gold.

I know Cingular's website has a page where you can type in the phone number and send a text message to someone, but I don't know if there would be a way to create a hack to work with this (plus I don't know if this cingular site would only allow you to text message just Cingular phones or any text capable phone).

Just me 2 cents worth of an idea, hope someone with a bit more knowledge than me can help it out.

There are 1 or 2 hacks that support text messaging. Try searching for it or search for SMS (hmm i guess that would be too short to search for).

I searched for text messages and text messenging but didn't turn up anything. I will look around a bit further on my own and see if I can find the SMS one (didn't think of that, but woulda been to short to search for any how).
