Default Postbit and Memberlist Information

I think I read it somewhere on the forums not 100% sure though so Ill just ask.

When you add fields to the postbit that displays in forums, can you display the same profile information in the memberlist without errors? Im asking because I dont even want to try it if it wont work. Yknow backing up etc. Rather ask and benefit from someone elses knowledge

Well what i was gonna do is edit the memberlist to show the exact same information i have in the forums postbit. So the field1, etc setting I would put in instead of the current email icq and so on. My specific question is whether or not its gonna tweak the tables or not.

There is a thing that changes the member list to do such a thing with icq aim and yahoo indicators. Using this as an example and the default table settings for the memberlist thats what I meant. Changing the [ Field1 ] in place of [ email ] would that work?

Probably (BTW no hack discussion here). If it's like most other pages, SELECT * is part of the SELECT queries (i.e., fetches all columns).

Ok I went through and did it. Yes it works fine. Two little things you need to do. The <- and -> need to be removed from the memberlist and memberlistbit templates where the ICQ Yahoo and Aim icon inclusions go. Then in the memberlist template you need to change the $bbboardtitle include table to span = "number of columns"

Thats it! So if this question comes up the answer is right here.

Ok Im bumping this because I have a "hack" rules question above I was told no hack discussions. I have yet to see a solid "hack" threat on the boards. Correct me if Im wrong but arent my above questions true mod questions?

A hack edits the .php files that come with vBulletin and in some cases the database.

A template modification edits the templates and in some cases the database.

Ok then the above questions seem to revolve around template mods without changing the php files.
