I would assume it is not so Mac-friendly because the big majority of users use PC's. Maybe talk to SaintDog about it through Pm or something, and he can steps to making it better on Macs.

Yeah I do realize that 99% of users are on PCs. There should be a place where you should be able to ownload the text files directly.
Even MAC users have vb liscenses. |

This is what I need to work. If someone could explain how to configure the MAC to be able to download the zip/txt files without it wanitng to download the PHP file, that would be lovely.
Also, If there is a program for the MAC that opens ZIP files, this would also be a geat help! thank you in advance. |

Hmm... Well the ZIP and Text files are accessed through a PHP script. They don't exist on a drive anywhere but in the database. I would think the only thing you have to change is the title when you download. Otherwise, talk to Apple about recognizing common MIME types.
As far as uncompressing ZIP files on a Macintosh. May I recommend Stuffit Expander. It is the most widely used Archiving system on the Macintosh platform and when I had a Macintosh in the System 7 days, it worked splendidly on zip files as well. |

What broswer are you using to acess the site junior?
I hear that Mozilla solves some of these problems with the Mac. They have builds for os-x and os 8 and 9 there. I dont have a mac (i plan on getting one when i can), if i did i would test if for you. |

Well, you 90%ers (PC users) don't know what you're missing. Even Bill Gates knows the Mac is a better computer. That said...
I can read the forums fine, it's installing the skins that is giving me trouble. The first problem -- downloading. I'm getting "attachment.php" instead of the zip file. I read what Wayne Luke says above: " I would think the only thing you have to change is the title when you download." I tried this, and it worked. Don't know why. Works when I hold down the OPTION key to download attachment.php, then rename it on my hard drive. Clicking on the renamed .zip file runs Stuffit, and I got the folder. Problem #2 -- elsewhere in this forum, I mentioned the problems I was having, and someone (sorry, forget who) pointed me to the right directory: /forums/images/themes so I created that, and then sub dirs for the themes I wanted. I'm getting SOME of the images, but not all of them. I can see they are there, though. I can find out the file name of one I can see and one I can't and both of them are in the directory. But they are not all loading -- even when I click on "load image". |

First, it's Mac, not MAC. Second, I use Mozilla. Works great. You need 2 tools. the first being BBEdit, a great text editor. Second, Stuffit Expander. For zipping, unzipping files.
99.9% of the vB sites I visit display correctly with Mozilla. IE is not so forgiving. Also, IE for the PC renders much differently then IE for the Mac. I've installed a bunch of styles, absolutely no problem. If you have any Mac specific questions, visit my forums. |

By Mozilla, you mean Netscape? I have tried and tried to love Netscape and Eudora, and I just don't. I hate MS as a corp., but I like SOME of their products -- specifically IE and Outlook Express.
I found your forum -- macfora.com -- you should reference it, :^) |
