Automatically ban IP
Can a hack be made that when I ban a member via the "Ban User" menu option in the "User Options", all IP addresses of that member will also be automatically added to my banned IP address list? Thanks.

that could be a good hack but it also has its downfalls. if the person you are banning that way is on a college campus such as mine that has wireless that means anyone else from that campus prolly wont be able to join because the IP will be banned. Because my wireless IP changes a lot when i am on campus and it has been the same IP of other members of my site that i know are on campus as well

Well this could be an added option, ie., "Ban User" and now a "Ban User and Add IP Addresses to ban list". And once that option is clicked, there could be a checklist and you can check all/none/some of that user's IP's.

You might want to take a look at this hack that I requested for ideas aswell.

Yup, similar ideas - perhaps someone more technically inclined can help me out?

If everyone used a static ip that would be fine but not a good idea especially for your aol customers. When banning an iP you should really look into what ip/proxy he's using and who what other members are as well. You could lock out alot of innocent members with this type of hack. This is something that should be done manually from vb options - banning options -Not to mention the banned member can easily establish a new ip.

This can be a choice to use, there can be the regular banning option, as well as this IP banning one. vB has the IP ban for a reason, so I don't think having this as an option can hurt.

Ametures it is very simple to ban a whole ip ramp this function already exists in VB that takes care of AOL users and sine you ban the USER As well every time they change their ip and try logging in it can autop ban their new ip as well with little or no effort besides since their account is banned they will be banned reguardless of ip anyway just my two cents but the option to do both would be a good idea... people with dynamic ips usually only have the last 2 sets of digits change anyway genius
