need to upgrade mysql
i just bought 40gb bandwidth and 1gb webspace from ontimehosting.com
but i need to convert my old atebase to theirs.. problem is my other datebase is mysql version 4.0.24 - standard.. and the new datebase is version 4.1.11-standard .. i contacted ontimehosting to see if they would upgrade.... or is tehre another way? |

i have 2 servers... the server im using just now is an older version of mysql... i just bought a new server from and that one is using a newer version of mysql.

And? they are compatabile, just restore the backup.

Zachery, The newer database has collations.... How do I get around that??? I'm afraid just restoring the database is not an option...
I have manually removed every instance of collate latin1_bin default NULL ...... I am sure it can be done but I just think using the same version would be easiest.... I think I got it. I had to change the dump options... I will let you know how it works. I have read about many people having this same problem... Thanks |
