Do you have cpanel hosting? if so just go to backup and backup the database, you can also do it using phpmyadmin, then just upload your php files to your new host and restore the database.
you can also use telnet but I don't have a clue how to use it |

That will only work if you are on a Nix server with Cpanel/whm installed.
go to yourdomain.com/cpanel > Click the sql databases button > click "phpmyadmin" on the bottom of the page, chose your forum from the dropdown box > click the export button. If you are using a huge database, you might want to back up each table seperately (the session will time out if you try to upload a huge database). |

That's the thing - I dont have access to the site anymore. They've put a message up saying "sorry can't allow you access today" and wont be letting us back on - it's the second time we've maxed out their bandwidth, so we're moving to a dedicated server.
Is it not just as easy as copying the entire ftp folder over to the new server? All the cgi/bin folders are there, it would be just like before right? |
