I need to remove the "Search by User Name" and "Find all Posts/Threads Started by User" options from the search function.
It's come to my attention that employees of X company are using the search results as logs for activity on my forum and blackmailing their coworkers for non-compliant use of company resources. I figure if we turned this off, then that coworker would have to manually find each and every post by a particular user, which would require A LOT more time than simply clicking "find all posts by user" from their general forum profile. Even removing profiles, in advanced search you can search for all posts by user name. So, unless I turned off all search function and profiles my members aren't being protected. When I thought of it, rarely is the 'find by username' function used. So it won't be missed and it seems more of a detriment than tool at this point. |

That is quite simple, just edit the code right out of the profile view template.

Couldn't find this template.
Will this also modify the advance search option "search by user name"? |

Memberinfo is where the profile view template is stored.
I'm not sure what the advanced search template is called, just do a template search and you'll find it. |

Thanks, found it -- memberinfo is correct, and it's in the search template for removing the username search script.
Now we just made a member VERY happy! ![]() |
