When *I* was 13 we didn't have computers like you know in our homes (just commodore 64's, and yes, I had one LOL). We didn't connect to the internet. We idolized geeks in movies like "War Games" when you used an old-fashioned analogue corded-phone to connect with a 2400 baud modem (yes, 2400, not a typo), but not to the internet

There certainly wasn't UBB or VB or any BB, and a BBS, well I'm not sure the little local ones were even in existence yet (remember the ones you dialed into locally and used basically a dos screen to chat to other members with? Remember MUD rooms? Do people still MUD?)
And just think, when my mother was 13, they barely had color TV!
