I need to modify vBulletin to authenticate users against our LDAP directory. I also want to use the directory to maintain specific user fields in the vB user database (such as e-mail address and primary usergroup which will be based on a field in the user directory). Do I need to turn off User Registration and make the modifications to login.php to achieve this or is there a better or more efficient way of doing it?
Has anyone successfully implemented LDAP authentication for vBulletin? I want to be sure that I do it the easiest, best and most secure way, not just the way that works. This is a learning experience! Thanks for any advice :classic: |

Seems I've bitten off more than I can chew! <sigh>
At the moment, I'm examining login.php and includes/functions_login.php to see how vBulletin does things ... I've got LDAP authentication code for our environment but can't work out where it fits in (checks the LDAP server for credentials and if authenticated, inserts or updates the relevant fields in the user table). I've been looking around for a step-by-step through vBulletin's login procedure but have only found bits and pieces. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it ... |
